About Us

The objectives of the walk are to

  • raise the profile of Carers (750,000 in the Greater London area alone)
  • to raise funds for the local Carers’ Support Centres and Organisations and
  • to have fun with friends and family

But let's remind ourselves who the carers are, what they do, & how much worth they are to the nation.

Carers are hidden heroes

Carers are hidden heroes who without payment provide care to their loved ones, in many cases 24 hours a day, 7 days a week could be a husband, wife, father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter other relative or even a friend or neighbour.    Carers are on occasions highly stressed and desperately in need of better support. Local Carers Centres and organisations provide that support.

Carers contribute the equivalent of £132billion of care every year

A study by Carers Uk and the University of Leeds shows that the care provided by family members and friends to their loved ones who are frail, ill or disabled is now worth a staggering £132 billion every year.
